WHO WE ARE

Margaret and Bryan Fleet

Margaret (Cunningham) Fleet:
I have been riding since I was 13 years old.  I was fortunate enough to have a great instructor (Shannon Hargget of Oakridge Stables in Rock Hill, SC) who  gave me a really great background in riding.  I spent a lot of time in the saddle making up for the 5 years head start that some kids get. It didn't take long for me to learn to ride; because when you are a kid you just do things and don't worry about it, so you tend to learn quickly.  After taking lessons for about 8 or 9 months and going to a few horse shows, I leased a horse named Ivey.   Ivey taught me a lot about horses but was sold a few months later, which is when I made my way to the ASC Greenway in Fort Mill SC.  I started off there like any other rider.  But shortly thereafter, I began working with horses that no one wanted to ride and made them "good" again, so that everyone wanted to ride them, and then I started riding younger and younger horses until I began training babies from the ground up. (With help and guidance of course.)  I found that I had a passion for horses and for the understanding and training of  horses; they are just magical animals!  I started teaching lessons when I was 15 years old out at Springs through the wonderful  lessons that they offer. I would not be the horse person I am today, if it weren't for the experiences I have had there and for the kindness of  Mrs. Anne Springs Close and the two barn managers I have worked for: Mr. Ken Epps and Mr. Ronnie Patterson.  I don't know what I would do without this wonderful gift and talent that I can share with the next generation of riders; it fills me with such joy and gives me a purpose in life that is truly satisfying.

I went to school in Rock Hill, SC all my life and then went to Winthrop University (also in Rock Hill) where I earned my degree in Art Education.  I went on to teach at Saluda Trail Middle School in Rock Hill, SC for 3 years, right after graduating, all the while continuing my work with horses.  I got the bug to quit teaching and pursue my dream with horses.  Basically I just wanted to teach riding lessons full time and to live and breath horses.  (This is quite literally true now!)

Bryan Fleet

Bryan got into horses because of me.  He had ridden a few times with his Aunt in Montana previously, but had no real interest.  Bryan has always been an animal lover so horses were just another animal to love.  Being such a fanatic it didn't take long for me to turn Bryan into a horse person.  It brings both of us great joy to be with our horses, either riding them of just watching them.  We couldn't be happier.  Bryan went to Georgia Tech in Atlanta and earned a degree in Biology.  But he decided that one degree wasn't enough, so he went to Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC and also got a Masters in Biology.  Bryan is now working towards getting into the Physician Assistant Program at MUSC, which will put some of that Biology to use I guess.  For now we just both work on the farm and have fun with the horses.

We have been married for about 3 and a half years and jumped right in to owning a house.....and a farm in one shot.  I always dreamed about running my own horse business but thought I would be doing it alone.  Sometimes life throws in some nice surprises that are even better that you could imagine.
